Principal's Bio

Image for Principal

After graduating Arab High School, I attended Snead State and Jacksonville State University (JSU) and received a BSE in General Science in 1998. My first teaching position was at Oxford High School (OHS) where I taught Physical Science, Technical Bio/Chem, and AHSGE Remediation in Science and Mathematics. While working at OHS, I received my Master's Degree in Educational Administration at JSU and was then hired as the Assistant Principal at Lincoln High School (LHS) in the Talladega County School System. After one year, I was offered the Assistant Principal position at OHS and I returned. Over the next year, I earned my Educational Specialist Degree at JSU in Educational Administration and then started working on my Doctorate at the University of Alabama.  After starting my Doctoral Program, I was hired as the Principal of Piedmont High School (PHS) where I worked until the summer of 2013. When my Dissertation Chair retired unexpectedly, I chose to stop working on my Doctorate and spend more time with my family instead of adding two more years to my program.  While at PHS the school was named a CLAS Banner School, Apple Distinguished School, National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, and was mentioned in US News and World Report for multiple years as one of Americas Top High Schools. In the summer of 2013, I began working at Piedmont Middle School (PMS) where the staff is working to help move to a Mastery-Learning Model for all of our students.  During the 2013-2014 school year, PMS became a Verizon Innovative School as well as a Next Generation Learning Challenges School. In the Spring of 2014, I was excited to also be named the Alabama Middle School Principal of the year.
